Smart Cities: design, sustainability and innovation

In a global context that calls for urgent action and shared visions, cities are increasingly becoming spaces of dialogue, creativity, and collective responsibility. Collaboration between institutions, academia, businesses, and citizens is essential to address contemporary urban challenges and to shape more sustainable, inclusive, and livable environments.

The event Smart Cities: design, sustainability and innovation will take place in Milan (Italy) on June 12th.

Conceived as a platform for dialogue and networking among institutional stakeholders, universities, researchers, and the private sector, the event fosters a shared reflection on future urban and territorial development models.

Organized by University for SDGs and Echoes Cooperation, in collaboration with institutions, enterprises, and universities, the initiative aligns with the principles of the New European Bauhaus, integrating environmental sustainability, social inclusion, and the quality of the built environment.

Morning Conference

The programme combines a morning conference with institutional contributions and keynote lectures by leading academics and researchers, addressing key themes such as inclusive design, urban resilience, sustainable innovation, and new models of governance and civic participation.

Afternoon Exibitions

In the afternoon, the event opens to the public with a project exhibition that brings together companies, researchers, and PhD candidates. Through projects, prototypes, and case studies, the exhibition creates opportunities for exchange, inspiration, and collaboration, with a dedicated PhD contest highlighting emerging research and innovation. The exhibition space is organized into three interconnected thematic areas—sustainability, inclusion, and beauty—designed to encourage interaction and dialogue among students, professionals, and the wider civic society.
